We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Engineer – Power Generation for a 12-month contract in Johor Bahru, Malaysia. The role will follow a hybrid work model with some travel requirements.
Key

Responsibilities:

Lead technical coordination for product development, ensuring high-quality risk management, and project delivery for power generation products.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including program leadership, engineers, and customers, to deliver robust designs and manage technical risk.
Make decisions on design and project risk trade-offs, balancing cost, quality, and delivery expectations.
Manage smaller projects or complex components with full accountability, providing leadership and mentoring to junior engineers.
Oversee the product development process, ensuring all milestones and product capabilities are met.
Apply tools like Product Development Six Sigma (PDSS), iDFMEA, and risk management tools to make data-driven decisions.
Support product validation efforts, including simulation, testing, and troubleshooting.
Manage project scope, schedule, and resources effectively, delivering medium to large engineering projects.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related STEM field (Master’s degree preferred).
Proven experience as a Senior or Lead Engineer, ideally in the power generation sector.
Background in electrical power engineering, control systems engineering, or mechanical/electrical engineering.
Familiarity with AutoCAD, Creo, and MS Project is a plus.
Prior experience in construction site management and electrical protection relays is desirable.
Strong communication, problem-solving, and project management skills.

• Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor a team of 20-25 CAD technicians/Drafters.
• Prepare detailed technical drawings, layouts and schematics using CAD Software (Architectural, Structural, and Civil Drawings).
• Drafting with Project Guideline: Layering with client’s specification, plot style/color/line weight as per project guideline.
• Create interior and exterior elevation from floor plan and site photo.
• Work in Model Space and Paper Space (Layout Space) with multiple Scales.
• Convert hand-drawn sketch into AutoCAD, ensuring it is accurately layered and dimensionally correct according to the original input.
• Coordinate and manage projects from initiation to completion.
• Identify training needs and facilitate professional development opportunities for team members.
• Provide technical guidance and support to the team.
• Prepare regular reports on project status, timeliness, and team performance.

Qualification:

• ITI Civil, ITI Arch.
• Diploma.
• B.Tech.

Preferred Skills:

• AutoCAD-Latest Version (Architectural & Civil Drawings).
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD 3D, AutoCAD Civil and MicroStation would be an additional advantage.
• Basic MS Office.
• Ensure Timely Delivery.
• Ensure the accuracy of drawings.
• Ability to read and understand client’s specification/guidelines in English.
• Stay updated on industry trends, tools, and technologies to enhance drafting capabilities.
